Ban Khun Mae (MOE)- Food TryOut

Hey Guys ✋,

Today let's have some Food ThoughtsπŸ—πŸšπŸ—πŸ–πŸ—πŸšπŸšπŸš
All I can see is food today 😝😝😝

One fine day when I decided to meet my friend in Mall of Emirates- Al Barsha I was not sure what we should eat. I kind of searched and thought we should try some Thai food. Upon searching more I found about Ban Khun Mae

Ban Khun Mae is a Thai food outlet in food court on Level 1 of Mall of Emirates. It was kind of of a little late lunch around 5:00pm on June 11, 2017. The counter was quite empty while other food counters were busy even though it was Ramadan. Since I have already planned it I thought we should go with Ban Khun Mae itself. I never imagined it was going to be disappointing and such a wastage of food. I'm not really sure how there is so many good reviews on Zomato; maybe we were just unlucky that day !!

Well let's get started with our Food Thoughts...

We ordered the following dishes from them:
1) KhaoPad Goong - Thai style fried rice with egg and shrimps
2) KhaoPad Gai -  Thai style fried rice with egg and chicken
3) Khao Naew Nuae - Deep fried dried beef served with chilli sauce and steamed sticky rice
4) Sprite - medium

Price: It seemed quite on the higher side, compared to how the food tasted.

Service : We placed the order and was told to wait for 10 mins. I think we waited for around 10-15 mins only for the food. Not sure why they asked us to wait, when the food that was served was really cold. It was not freshly prepared or anything.

Order bill

Overview of our order

KhaoPad Gai -  Thai style fried rice with egg and chicken
Out of all the 3 dishes we tried KhaoPad Gai was the only one we both liked. The garnishing looks attractive but it was kind of bland. But still better than the other 2 dishes. The food was really cold even though they served it fast.
Rice was cooked well, but it didn't quite seem like it was fried. The chicken was cooked to perfection. Quantity was quite filling too.

KhaoPad Gai -  Thai style fried rice with egg and chicken

KhaoPad Goong - Thai style fried rice with egg and shrimps
The way they presented the dish is attractive and that's all to it. It smelled really fishy. I agree it had shrimps, but the fish smell was too strong to handle. I'm not so sure if this is how it is supposed to be 😲😲😲.
Quantity was sufficient and rice was cooked to perfection, but it definitely didn't tasted like fried rice. Shrimps was not cooked well and on the whole it was a waste to order this dish. We only ate a few spoons and rest directly to πŸ—‘πŸ—‘πŸ—‘.

Khao Naew Nuae - Deep fried dried beef served with chilli sauce and steamed sticky rice
I liked this dish, but my friend didn't like. I liked the beef sprinkled with sesame seeds and the sticky rice too. It was a bit difficult to chew the deep fried beef. If only it was a bit hot it would have tasted great. Atleast this is what I felt. But the portion was quite filling.
And the chilli sauce didn't smell anything like chilli and it was kind of all oily. Rather than being spicy it was sour and I didn't like the oily smell.

Khao Naew Nuae - Deep fried dried beef served with chilli sauce and steamed sticky rice

Now the Overall Rating (On a scale of 5)
Price : 3 / It's affordable, but on the higher side compared to the quality of the food we ate.
Quality/Taste : 2 / Not Satisfied (I would like to think that we were unlucky on that specific day and seeing all those positive reviews on Zomato, I would like to give myself another chance to try their other dishes).
Quantity : 4 / Sufficient
Serve time : 4 / Wait time mentioned was 10 mins and we were served within 10-15 mins
Display : 3.5 / Attractive
Recommend : 3 / I'm not so sure about recommending. I can only tell after I try other dishes from them.

Red Rooster- Food TryOut

Hey All πŸ˜‰,

How are you all?

Today is a FOOD THOUGHTS DAY πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹πŸ˜›πŸ˜†

I'm a person who really really doesn't like to carry lunch bags to office and I have been like this ever since I started working. I'm not really the type of person who goes around carrying lunch bags. Instead I would prefer to carry my camera bag and backpack 😈

When I'm really really hungry I order food delivery and 06/July/2017 happened to be such a Hungry Day. I was not sure what I really wanted to eat. All I could think of was ordering something very spicy. Zomato came to my help and after searching for quite some time I decided to try the food from RED ROOSTER Fried Chicken and Peri-Peri, Satwa. The photos of their food capture my attention and the colors of spiciness attracted me to try to their food.

I ordered the following dishes from them:
1) Peri-Peri Quarter Meal
2) Mozzarella Sticks

Price: As you can see from the below order bill the food is not expensive and the quantity is good too. When the restaurant made the delivery they made sure to keep their menu with my order and it was quite thoughtful of them.

Delivery: If you zoom on the below order bill you can see the order time as 11:53am or so (Imagine how hungry I was to order around that time. Ohh !! so embarassing.. Well it's food after all. Never mind anything else). And the delivery time mentioned was 60 minutes and it was expected to be delivered around 12:58pm. I understand 60 minutes and it might take some time coming from Satwa to Downtown, but the food was delivered at 1:26 pm to be exact. I kind of lost my appetite waiting for the food.

Furthermore the food had really cooled down when it got delivered.

As you can see below are the photos of the food that I ordered.

Peri-Peri Quarter Meal : It contains a Quarter Peri-Peri grilled chicken, 1 bowl of rice, Peri-Peri sauce and a cool drink ( mine is 7UP).

Grilled chicken was oily and you could see oil around the container. It was tasty, but rather than being Spicy it was too much Salty. Even though I ordered it to be Exta Hot, it was not spicy. I don't think I will order this dish again.
Peri-Peri sauce was kind of sour and had chilli flakes. Not at all to my liking.

The yellow colored rice had the taste of noodles. You know the taste of instant noodles and the same kind of color too. Even though it said it has vegetables, but I could hardly find any vegetables in there. NO NO Again.

Can you see the oil around the container? Only part of the grilled chicken looks dry, but its oily.

Next up is the Mozzarella Sticks. The outer crust looks quite tempting and golden brown. But it was really hard and the cheese hardened as well. This too was too much Salty to eat.

Now the Overall Rating (On a scale of 5)
Price : 4 / Affordable and not expensive
Quality/Taste : 2 / Not Satisfied (If I happened to visit this restaurant, I would like to try their other dishes)
Quantity : 4 / Sufficient
Delivery : 2 / Delayed
Packing : 3.5 / So-so and normal
Recommend : 2.5 / I'm not so sure about recommending. But it is affordable.

Amba Restaurant- Food Tryout

Hey Guys ✋,

Today let's have some FOOD THOUGHTS πŸ˜„πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
This is ME most of the times πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‹

It has been a while since we (me and mom) ordered some South Indian dishes and we were craving for some South Indian taste so badly... ZOMATO is our savior. As I already had the app downloaded it was only a matter of few minutes until we found some restaurants to our liking.

And AMBA Vegetarian Restaurant happened to be the one. We browsed the menu and were happy to find the food that we liked. With out further delay we ordered their food through ZOMATO APP on 07/07/2017. We live around this area, but never had the chance to try their food.

We ordered the following food from them:
1) Poori Kuruma
2) Poori
3) Onion Uthappam with extra topping of Paneer
4) Gulab Jamoon

As you can see from the below bill the food is priced reasonably and didn't cost much and the delivery was on time too.

This is how the whole delivery packing looked like. I guess this kind of packing is normal around Deira area.

Kurma and Coconut Chutney (white)
White chutney tasted good and it seemed like it was made of real coconut rather than coconut powder or cream. There was a Red colored chutney/pickle too, but not sure if it was chutney or pickle. Failed to get a photo. Sorry friends, just that I was eager to eat the whole thing πŸ˜†πŸ˜

Chickpeas Kurma
Kurma tasted good too, except that chickpeas was a little too less. Unlike the usual green/yellowish colored Kurma this was in brown color, as if how a Masala curry would be.

Poori set
Their Poori set has 3 pcs each when you order it as a set or separate set of Pooris only. It was not fluffy, but rather it was all crumbled (may be because of the packing) as you can find in the below photo. Regardless of the appearance Pooris tasted good and was not much oily.

Onion Uthappam
It is one of my favorite dishes and I really really liked their option of choosing extra topping of Paneer or Butter. The diced onion covered the Dosa/Rice batter and it was just the right mixture. Since I like paneer, I chose that and it tasted really really good. Powdered cumin seeds was sprinkled as well and the whole thing just tasted delicious.

Gulab Jamun
Evening snacks combined with a dessert as sweet as the Gulab Jamun is just the perfect thing to my taste buds. I have the habit of munching something sweet after most of my meals. I'm sure many of us are into this πŸ˜‹πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜†
Gulab Jamun tasted perfect and the sugar syrup was ample too. I didn't want to doze off, so didn't finish the syrup 😴😴😴😡😡

Now the Overall Rating (On a scale of 5)
Price                  :   4.5 / Good value for money
Quality/Taste     :   4 / Good ( Because I'm yet to try other dishes)
Quantity             :   4 / Sufficient and filling
Delivery             :   4.5 / On Time
Packing              :   3.5 / So-so and normal (Poori crumbled)
Recommend       :   4.5 / Definitely worthy of trying and moreover it's a Vegetarian Restaurant. Good for those who would like to try Indian/ South Indian vegetarian dishes on a budget.

Korean Food TryOut

Hi Guys ✋,

Today let's have some Food Thoughts πŸ‘€

I'm sure many of you are fans of Korean dramas and movies; and now tell me who have not drooled over their mouth-watering food scenes, other than their hot actors 😜

I have always wanted to try Korean Cuisine and 26th March, 2017 happened to be the D-Day. I was very very eager and happy that I found out a pocket-friendly food outlet serving Korean dishes.

I visited Mall of Emirates- Al Barsha with a friend on the said day and before visiting I did some research to find where I could get Korean food and luckily there was a outlet in MOE and thanks to ZOMATO for this help.

We went to KORYO KOREAN BBQ outlet in the MOE Food Court- Level 2. I was excited and confused at the same time. I'm mostly into Indian, Persian and Pizza - Pasta kind of foods and was really not sure how things will turn out. Without much wait we ordered the following dishes:

1) Quick Combo (2 Entries, Rice and Japchae)
We chose the Galbi (Grilled marinated beef short ribs) and Dak Galbi (Grilled marinated chicken).
For rice we chose it with vegetables.
As you can see the portion of Rice and Japchae is quite enough and filling with the 2 Entrees.

Taste wise maybe because it was our first try on Korean food it was kind of so-so only. I was expecting the Galbi and Dak Galbi to be spicy, but it was not that spicy. I think it would taste great if it was bit more spicy and salty. It wasn't too oily and the meat was cooked really well and the sesame seeds sprinkled makes it taste good too, except for the spicy part.

Rice and Japchae (sweet potato noodles) was good and I don't mind having it again.

2) Tteokbokki (Spicy Rice Cakes)
I drooled seeing the scenes in dramas where the female leads mostly ate Tteokbokki and I'm glad I tried it. Even though it says its Spicy, but I think its more of a sweet/sour taste. I'm not sure if this is how the authentic Tteokbokki tastes or if it's just like this here in the outlet. The red color of the dish made me feel like I'm going to need lots of tissues, but that was not the case. It was spicy but was more sweet/sour. And the rice cakes were kind of hard and I found it difficult to chew it. It is how it is normally? Can someone let me know? I would like to know it if there are any Korean bloggers or readers around here or maybe some followers who have tasted authentic Korean cuisines. I really appreciate that.

3) Kimchi (Napa Cabbage Kimchi)
I'm not really sure what I should say about Kimchi. I don't mean to offend any of my readers here, but I really didn't like the Kimchi. I think it's because I'm not used to trying foods from different taste. The Kimchi had a foul kind of smell as if the food had gone bad. I'm not really sure how it is as well.
I really really wanted to eat Kimchi, as the scenes of making Kimchi from Boys over Flowers and many other dramas made me drool over it.

I guess I should have tried some other Banchan (side dishes).

So this was my experience with Korean food tryout. I'm sure I want to give myself another chance and taste the other dishes too. I will keep you all updated after I try it again. Meanwhile if you guys have any suggestions of Korean dishes for me to try out, do let me know. If possible and if available I will definitely tryout and let you all know.

I would like to know about similar experiences from you people too. Why not share your thoughts on Korean food or any other foods that you have tasted??

Dining @ PF Changs

A fine dining experience at PF CHANGS, Dubai Mall.
An unexpected lunch date with a metro mate- Kavita (Kavitechi as I call her) or should I say she is like a family to me now. A big sister whom you could reach out your hand. Someone who would listen to your worries and happiness and someone who would share her worries and personal matters. I like how she is, the way she is...
I would prefer having people like her who is genuine, rather than having lots of people flocked around you for you for their own very benefits. I like it how I can be myself when I'm with her. I hope she enjoys my company too.

Today was a bad day for her as she was having some troubles at the place where she is staying. As she has said she kind of have mood swings and today was such a day. She called me asking if we could take a stroll or talk. Unfortunately when she called I was busy at office as my boss's wife has come. It took a while for me to get back to her. But I really really wanted to be with her and I made up some excuses and got permission to meet her for lunch. On the way to Dubai Mall for lunch we also hooked up with her friend and we went to PF CHANGS.
I wanted to lift up her spirits rather than dining and I hope I was helpful in some way...

Now let's talk about the lunch. We ordered Dynamite Shrimp for starters which is their signature dish, Singapore Street Noodles and Orange Peel Chicken with white rice. For drinks we chose Ginger Ale and Lemon Soda with ice and her friend chose Iced Tea- Blackberry Jasmine Green flavor with syrup.

Their Dynamite Shrimp is really tasty and we three enjoyed it. Shrimp was crispy and sauce was spicy and tasted great. Orange Peel Chicken was good too with slices of peeled oranges and the sauce kind of tasted similar to the sauce of Dynamite Shrimp. May be we are not used to the Chinese rice noodles, we didn't like it much. Singapore Street Noodles was good with shrimp, chicken strips, baby tomatoes, cilantro and garlic. Hopefully we will try out something else next time.

See some photos of our lunch today πŸ˜†

Do let me know if you have also tried PF CHANGS and what do you think about their food.

Meanwhile do check out my photoblog as well for more of my clicks and let me know you thoughts on my style of clicks.

Lots of love

Lunch - Noon & Kabab

NOON & KABAB- BAKHTIARI FOR LUNCH

This photo was taken on 17/01/2017 around 1:00PM with my Sony Xperia C5.

Let's talk about the food from NOON & KABAB. I really love their food and I have tried their Chicken Kubideh and Spicy Joojeh quite few times. I am mostly into South Indian foods, but may be because I work with few Persian people I got to try their cuisines. I must say that I really love few of these items. Unlike other restaurants in the Dubai Downtown area, NOON & KABAB outlet in Dubai Mall have affordable foods to enjoy.

The above item I got it for my lunch and it is their BAKHTIARI which is a combination of marinated chicken and meat kabab served with cucumber yogurt and choice of French Fried, Iranian Bread or Rice.
As for me I always order it with the combination of rice which comes in 3 varieties and I really enjoy it. Except that it is a little bland for our Indian taste buds.
It comes with a grilled tomato, a piece of lemon, onion and parsley salad and 3 rices are with saffron, raisins and plain rice. And it cost me only 32Dhs/- for this lunch. This is good enough to serve 2 persons.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I ordered my lunch through the UBEREATS APP. They are pretty quick in delivery and good service too.

Have a great time guys :)
